North Texas Giving Day 2018
Saturday, 08 September 2018

It takes many different types of support for the Humane Society of Dallas to be able to continue to operate and help all of the homeless animals in our community with shelter, food, medical attention, and to eventually find a forever home. North Texas Giving Day is a critical way we receive support for our shelter and for our animals to continue to give them all we possibly can. Your help on North Texas Giving Day helps us reach that goal.

This year North Texas Giving Day has early giving available. Starting September 10th @ 8am, donors can give their financial support to the Humane Society of Dallas by going to northtexasgivingday.org/humane-society-of-dallas-countydog-kitty-city.

Adopt a Mom for Mother's Day!
Tuesday, 01 May 2018

MOM CATS 2018

Just in time for Mother's Day, we are highlighting all the great mother cats awaiting adoption at Dog & Kitty City. All of these furry moms arrived at our shelter doorstep with a litter of babies and some of them even did double duty nursing abandoned kittens that may have arrived as stragglers. They are spayed, up to date with their shots, and ready for their own homes.

These lovely moms are available for a special adoption fee of $50 during the month of May.

Help Peanut
Friday, 27 April 2018

Peanut is 3 years old and was surrendered to our shelter with cataracts. Because the surgery for such a condition is so cost prohibitive his owner could not afford to continue to care for Peanut. In such a young dog cataracts is particularly unusual for them to develop and we want to give Peanut the best chance possible to have a chance to see again clearly since he is so young.

This opportunity to help Peanut with corrective surgery has been estimated at $5,000. We could not turn Peanut away, but as a small non-profit shelter we need your help to raise the funds necessary to help Peanut see again. Any amount goes a long way to giving this dog a second chance at sight. Please consider helping us do all we can for our boy Peanut.

Spring Is Here but So Is Puppy and Kitten Season!
Sunday, 11 March 2018

In every community in every U.S. state, there are animals sitting in shelters waiting for homes. Only about half of those dogs and cats will ever get one. If they’re in a kill shelter then the other half will be euthanized.***

Now is the time to make a change. This season thousands of kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs can be saved from euthanizing for room in kill shelters simply by being fixed. We cannot afford to think of spaying and neutering animals as optional; it’s a legal must and for good reason! Around 2.7 million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized each year in the United States simply because they do not have homes. These high numbers are the result of unplanned litters that could have been prevented by spaying or neutering.***

Low cost to free spaying and neutering is available in every area all over the country. Call your local animal control to get more information. Let’s stop senseless euthanizing of innocent kittens and puppies by starting with spaying or neutering pets.

Thanksgiving
Monday, 06 November 2017

This Thanksgiving, the Humane Society of Dallas County would like to take a moment to share our gratitude and thanks to all of the many people who make running this shelter possible.

HSDC is thankful for all of the financial supporters who give your monetary support to our shelter. We’ve renovated the cat rooms, dog runs, cages, and numerous items in our shelter because of your generosity. Without you to help us operate we would have to close our doors. You are invaluable to the maintenance and smooth running of our shelter.

We’re thankful for all of the volunteers who donate their time to really help us out. You come out to events, you foster our youngest and special needs animals, you raise awareness and you raise money through our annual raffle. This job would be too overwhelming without your assistance making it all possible. This includes our Luv-a-Pet volunteers who go to the PetSmart adoptions center to spend time with our cats, and our Adopt-a-Pet volunteers who come out to our weekend dog events to show off our dogs. We also are thankful to our in-house shelter socializers and our dog walkers. You make sure our animals receive individualized social attention and focus in order to help them shine for the people who want to give them a forever home.

We are also thankful to our webmasters Cristina and Gabriel of low-fat cats design and to our social media correspondents. You keep the public informed of everything that’s going on at the shelter and give out all the information about our animals, our needs, special circumstances and events in an internet age where what is online is what brings the focus to our shelter and our cause.

All of us working together help make a huge difference in the lives of the animals in our care. We at the Humane Society of Dallas County rely on every person who brings their time, talent, and help to us in order to give the animals in our care a second chance at tomorrow. Thank you!
