Auto was named for the automobile that ran him over and landed him in the care of the shelter. He still walks with a bit of a limp. He is ready for his forever home to finish healing!
Auto is a Chihuahua mix and gets along great with other dogs. He loves to play with the other dogs at the shelter. He has been to the dog park and had a blast! He also loves to cuddle on anyone's lap that has the time to sit with him. He is the perfect addition to any household! We do recommend a home with older children due to his small size.
Auto was fostered for a week by on of our volunteers to get him out of the shelter! She made these observations about him in her home:
He is working on potty training, I crate him during the day and have my dog walker come over at lunch to let him out for mid-day walk or break in the yard. He is also working on his commands and knows "come" pretty well. He is responding really well to positive reinforcement. He sleeps through the night (unless something really loud happens). He is SUCH a sweet boy and so loving and cuddly. A real people pleaser. He has done well with the other dogs he has met. He is pretty quite in the house, not a big barker. He does bark at things (bikers, dogs, people) walking by the yard, but well, I think that is him just saying hello. He loves playing and racing around with toys. He is a little show off with his speed! the back leg does not slow him down at all! He is building his confidence, but really loud noises and cars seem to startle him a little. We go on walks every day to help him get used to cars, but I can certainly understand his fear! I agree with the current bio, not recommending very small children. I do think he would be great for older kiddos!
