DOB 2010

Monch (rhymes with “launch”) was alone on the streets and just appeared on his foster family’s front porch late one night in October. He is appears to be about 1 ½ years old, currently weighs 30lbs, and is a Pharaoh Hound/Mix.

Monch is a super sweet boy who loves to play hard and then snuggle for hours. He does very well with other dogs – particularly with alpha dogs that are not aggressive and who would welcome a buddy who will follow their lead. His foster family has a 3 year old Border Collie/Mix who rules the house, and Monch has become her little shadow. For this reason his foster family thinks that Monch would pair best with a dog who is already trained, as he will undoubtably mimic their actions.

Monch still has a bit of puppy/stray mentality and needs lots of positive discipline, as well as a good amount of attention and love. He responds well to training with lots of praise and treats, and his foster family has been able to housebreak him, crate train him, teach him to “sit” and he has been micro-chipped. His foster family thinks that he may have been neglected as a pup, and as a result he does well in the crate when no one is home, but does not like to be separated from his people or his dog pals when they are at home.

This guy will do best in a home where he has plenty of room to run around, and people or other dogs to play with. He needs an owner who can provide him with lots of exercise, encouragement and discipline. As far as is known, Monch has not spent any time around children, and being that he is still needs some work, they would recommend that he go to an adults-only home, or a home with older kids. There is no doubt that with some effort and lots of love, Monch will grow up to be a great and loyal companion!

Monch is not at the shelter but in foster care but if you want to see this really sweet boy you can contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to make an appointment to meet him.
