Rain was rescued by one of our volunteers after she was thrown out of a car on the highway. There is nothing you can say about people who do such a thing to a helpless animal but we will do all we can to make life better for this little girl!!!
Rain has gained a lot of confidence since she first arrived at the shelter and out of harm's way. She is still just a puppy with gangly legs and a curiosity to learn - a German Shepherd/mix looking more Shepherd than whatever is mixed in there, she is going to grow up to be a mighty handsome girl!!! German Shepherds are very active dogs with a loyal nature and they make great companions.
Rain will not be a small dog but will weigh somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 pounds when full grown. She already walks well on a leash and wants to check out everything she comes in contact with. Rain has been in foster care recently and it is reported that she is now house trained, loves kids, dogs and cats – has learned to sit, lay and shake and they are working with her on other commands.
Since she is young, a setting where she is nurtured and shown patience is ideal. Rain will need plenty of exercise and play time so a fenced yard would be perfect. She needs to continue with her training and reinforcement of the commands she has learned and with learning her good doggie manners so that she will become a good happy part of her new family.
