Fern has had a rough life so far. Someone tied to the Shelter fence one night with a really short belt and it's actually quite amazing that she didn't strangle herself. What a scary situation for any dog to be put in!!! Fern was heartworm positive but has since been treated and has received a clean bill of health and is ready to find that wonderful home she deserves.
It seems little Fern has not had many breaks in her short life and she has a few physical scars to prove it. A volunteer with the shelter has taken special interest in Fern and has been spending some quality time with her – taking her to obedience training and on overnight visits to her home. This has been absolutely great for Fern and she has been introduced to many new and special things in the process, she has gone numerous times to the dog park, learned to climb stairs and go to fun places in the car. She is learning good house manners, learning to trust people and is working on her potty training.
Fern is small and lean weighing between 40-45 pounds, is very good on the leash, loves to go on walks and is totally curious, interested and appreciative of everything around her and seems to enjoy all the new things she is experiencing. She plays well with other dogs, likes to play with balls, stuffed animals and loves bones. She has made such great progress and has blossomed so much since the time she was that sad little dog left at the Shelter tied to the fence.
Fern is looking for a home where she can live inside and be accepted as a family member. She is an energetic young dog and would be happier in a home that is active and looking to involve a dog in family activities.
