Just had to share... This is a picture of "Da Vinci" (renamed "Rocky") who was with us only a short time before my daughter and I decided he needed to be adopted by my mother. He was a VERY scared little boy when he arrived a couple years ago. He would not even come out of the crate at adopt-a-pet. I don't know what happened to this poor little guy, but he was not treated well by someone. He would not eat food out of a bowl when he got to my mother's house - she would have to drop some on the ground and he would snatch a piece and run away to eat it. He was terrified of everyone and jumped anytime he was touched and would go hide if you even looked at him.
My mother is retired so this was an ideal match for a little guy that needed a lot of attention and patience. He is loved, adored, and spoiled. It took a long time, but he now lets most people give him love and petting, although he is still wary of some men. He is most happy sitting in my mother's lap or napping on the couch. He has a neighbor Dachshund friend named Jack that he has play dates with and sleep-overs when Jack's parents go out of town. You can see by the picture, he is a happy, healthy boy now that has nothing left to fear! :)
