Pet Education Events
Tuesday, 08 January 2013

HSDC is proud to announce two phenomenal pet education opportunities happening later this month, both sponsored by our friends at Park Cities Pet Sitter.

The first is a cat and dog behavior workshop given by renowned behaviorist Arden Moore on Saturday, January 26th from 11:30am-1:30pm at the Ridgewood-Belcher Recreation Center. During this informative and entertaining session, you will learn things like: how to read cat and dog body language, how to handle different dog and cat behavior problems, how to manage overly excited dogs, mixing a new cat or dog with current pets, what to do when your cat or dog is having inappropriate "pee" problems--and many other extremely useful tidbits to enhance your relationship with your pets. In addition you will get to meet Zeki, the famous cat, get a goody bag, and have the chance to win exciting door prizes!

The second is a Pet Tech First Aid and CPR Certification Class, put on by Master Trainer Arden Moore, with assistance from her amazing cat Zeki. The first class, on Friday, January 25th, has already filled up, so there is a second class that is now being offered on Thursday, January 24th, from 9:30am-3:30pm at the SPCA of Texas. Among the hands-on skills you will learn in her all-inclusive First Aid and CPR certification class include choking management, rescue breathing, three different pet CPR techniques, bleeding protocols, heat and cold-related injuries, and snout-to-tail assessment (wellness and injury). You will also learn preventative care that can save you money, and discover what surprising items must be included in your first aid kit. Added topics covered in this comprehensive course: dental care, nutrition, behavior and caring for senior pets.
