Scrappy is a lucky dog! He is a 1-year-old long haired Chihuahua mix and was rescued by us from a kill shelter on October 1st. He was suffering from luxating patellas on both hind legs and required expensive surgery. We put out a plea for help and he immediately found a foster mom to care for him, a vet surgeon to perform his surgery and waive all but procedure fees, and kind-hearted guardian angels who donated to support his treatment.
Scrappy had two surgeries on his legs and he went through a long recovery, but now he's all right. He weighs 8 lbs as of today. With the okay from his surgeon and vet, we'll let Scrappy attend the Saturday Adopt-A-Pets so he can find his forever home. He may need some special care for a while (long-term pampering while he regains strength in his legs), but he is totally healthy.
Here he is on Santa's lap! (Click the article thumbnail to see a larger view.) He wouldn't have had this without y'all's help.
