Dog & Kitty City will participate in Pooches on the Parkway, an adoption event that starts on Saturday, March 27th. The event is going to take place on every 4th Saturday of each month, between 11 am and 3 pm. It will be in Village on the Parkway, in the parking area on the west side of TGI Friday's.
We will have an adoption booth on the opening day, so make sure you stop by! If it goes well, we'll do it again. You can meet some of our dogs, and dogs from 14 other adoption agencies. This is shaping up to be a great event for dog lovers, and a nice way to spend the spring weather with like-minded people.
Date:
Saturday, March 27, 2010 (and possibly every 4th Saturday of each month afterward)
Join us for the 4th annual DOG BOWL at FAIR PARK on Sunday, April 11 when the Cotton Bowl will be turned into a giant–size Dog Park. Humane Society of Dallas County will have a booth at this event. Dogs and their owners will be "unleashed" on the Cotton Bowl field, where there will be fun contests, a style show, live entertainment, dog crafts, photos on the jumbotron, giant dog bowls, misting ponds, dog & owner concessions along with many exhibitor booths!
Wiley is a 7 year old male tabby. He is a very laid back, mild mannered boy. He was a stray in the Love Field area, rescued by a local family. He was kept as an outdoor cat and recently was caught by a coyote. One of the family members managed to scare off the coyote, but needed to turn him in to rescue, as they could not care for him indoors -- and were concerned about the coyotes.
He is sad at the shelter, so he would benefit from foster care in a private home. He probably needs some time to adjust to a new, indoor environment.
Wiley is FIV positive.
If you'd like to support Wiley as he's recovering from everything he's been through and adjusting to a new environment, please donate for his care as a guardian angel.
The coyote attack story was reported here on cbs11tv.com. Please be aware of wild animals in your neighborhoods and protect your outdoor pets.
Update on 2/14/2010: The sweet boy had his surgery, Femoral Head Osteotomy (FHO). This entails fitting the leg back into the hip bone. The problem could be congenital or trauma-caused. Since his other hind leg showed signs of abrasions, there is the possibility that he was hit by a vehicle.
He is recovering at the shelter and is so gentle, even the conehead does not bother him!! We thank those who have become Kellary's Guardian Angels. It helps with the happy ending we know he will have. We are still working to place him in foster care -- or better yet, a permanent forever home!
From the surgery, he may have a little less mobility than is normal, but there is no reason he cannot have a long and happy life.
